By - May 5th, 2026 01:27 pm

A collaboration between

Early Music Now
Danceworks Performance MKE
Aperi Animam

A world premiere event will take place on May 29th and 30th when three Milwaukee arts organizations – Early Music Now, Danceworks Performance MKE, and Aperi Animam – collaboratively present Terra Papagalli: Land of Parrots – Brazilian Colonial Music Meets Contemporary Movement

The project brings Sergio Dias, noted Brazilian music historian, to Milwaukee to lecture on and conduct newly discovered Baroque Brazilian manuscripts composed in 17th- and 18th-century Brazil but not yet heard in the modern era.  This music will be performed by a Baroque chamber orchestra and the Aperi Animam chamber choir, and expressed in original choreography provided by Danceworks Performance MKE.  Experience the Baroque period shaking hands with the Modern!

There will be two performances: On Friday, May 29th at 7:30pm, and on Saturday, May 30th at 5:00pm, at the Helene Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts on the UW-Milwaukee Campus, 2419 East Kenwood Blvd.
