MILWAUKEE – Marquette women’s basketball head coach Cara Consuegra announced the signing of incoming freshman Kinley Asp on Friday morning. The Colorado Springs, Colorado native will join the Golden Eagles for the 2026–27 season.

“Kinley brings exactly what we value in our program and possesses what it takes to win,” Consuegra said. “She has a natural feel for pushing the pace in transition, consistently makes great reads, and can stretch the defense with her quick release and deep 3-point range. Kinley is dangerous getting downhill to attack the rim, but she’s just as effective creating opportunities for her teammates. Defensively, her versatility stands out. She can guard the opponent’s best player, defend every position on the floor and adapt seamlessly to any role the game calls for.”

The 5-11 guard prepped at Air Academy High School, where she completed one of the most accomplished careers in Colorado high school basketball history. Asp was a four-time all-state selection and a McDonald’s All-American nominee in 2026, while earning state tournament MVP honors in 2023.

A four-year varsity standout and team captain, Asp helped guide her teams to a combined 99–8 overall record, earning two state championships with Colorado Springs Christian School before guiding Air Academy to a state runner-up finish in 2025 and the Great 8 in 2026.

During her senior season at Air Academy, Asp emerged as one of the top players in the state, averaging 25.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 4.4 steals per game, ranking third statewide in scoring. She also led the state with 80 made 3-pointers, showcasing her ability to score at all three levels. She also led the state in assists per game for three consecutive seasons (2023–25), reflecting her vision and ability to elevate teammates.

Asp set the Air Academy single-game scoring record with 49 points versus Coronado this year, capped her career with a 36-point performance in the Class 5A Great 8, and was named the Gazette Preps 6A–5A Girls’ Basketball Peak Performer of the Year following the 2025–26 season.

Over the course of her prep career, Asp became just the second player in Colorado history to surpass 1,700 points, 600 rebounds, 500 assists and 400 steals, joining former Duke standout and 2009 WNBA second-round selection Abby Waner. She also finished with the fourth-most career playoff points in Colorado state history (316).

Asp gained national club experience competing for Hardwood Elite 17U on the 3SSB circuit.
