Milwaukee Election Commission Announces Polling Location Changes for 2026–2027 Election Season

By - Feb 26th, 2026 05:31 pm

The Milwaukee Election Commission (MEC) is announcing several polling location changes that will take effect in the 2026–2027 election season. These new polling locations will be activated starting with the April 7, 2026 Spring Election.

Not all voters will see a change to their location. In total there are seven polling location changes that impact 14 wards across six aldermanic districts and approximately 9,251 registered voters.

Election Day voting depends on strong partnerships with community organizations and public and private facility owners who make their spaces available for voting. Prior to each election season, MEC conducts a comprehensive audit of polling sites to ensure they meet key standards for:

  • Safety and security
  • ADA accessibility
  • Voter access and walkability
  • Use of public buildings when available

Because polling locations often hold significant community recognition and familiarity, MEC aims to avoid changes whenever possible. However, adjustments are sometimes necessary due to building ownership changes, construction, accessibility, weather-related damage, or facility availability.

What Voters Should Expect

Impacted registered voters in the affected wards will receive a postcard at least 30 days before the April 7th, 2026 election with their new polling location information. Post cards will have MEC’s logo with the new polling place name and address.

To ensure voters have accurate information, MEC will also implement additional outreach efforts, including:

  • Signage posted at both the old and new polling locations on Election Day
  • Updates on the MEC’s Where to Vote and on the state’s myvote.wi.gov website
  • E-notify emails and social media posts (voters must sign up for E-notify by way of https://city.milwaukee.gov/News-Events/enotify)
  • Collaboration with community partners and neighborhood organizations
  • Media outreach and public notices

Find Your Polling Location

“If you do not receive a postcard in the mail, that means your polling location has likely not changed. Even so, it’s always a good idea for all voters to confirm their polling place before Election Day,” reports Paulina Gutiérrez, Executive Director. Voters can confirm their ward and assigned polling place at any time by entering their address under the Find My Polling Place section at www.myvote.wi.gov; on MEC’s Where to Vote site; or by contacting the Milwaukee Election Commission at 414-286-VOTE (8683) or via email at: voterinfo@milwaukee.gov. Maps for each polling location change are also located on MEC’s website.
