Senator Hutton focuses on affordability in GOP radio address
MADISON, Wis. — In this week’s radio address on behalf of legislative Republicans, Senator Rob Hutton (R-Brookfield) discusses GOP policies that lower the overall cost of government such as cutting tax taxes and red tape. In addition, government has a role to play in fixing broken systems that lead to runaway costs in sectors such as healthcare and higher education, Hutton says. The transcript is below:
“Hi, this is Senator Rob Hutton. Republicans in the Legislature have made it our top priority to address the cost of living, recognizing that more government spending and higher taxes only worsens the problem.
“We’ve enacted tax relief, cut the government red tape that drives up prices, voted to end Governor Evers’ 400-year property tax hike, and passed meaningful healthcare and childcare reforms to empower patients and parents.
“Government has a role to play in reforming broken systems that have led to runaway costs, such as healthcare. Next year we will advance major healthcare reforms to encourage transparency and patient choice.
“We must continue to address the cost of higher education, keep utility rates affordable, and permit the construction of more affordable housing.
