Honoring Gold Star Families on Independence Day
BROOKFIELD – As Wisconsin and the nation prepare to celebrate Independence Day and America’s 250th birthday, State Senator Rob Hutton (R-Brookfield) joins his colleagues in honoring the courage and sacrifice of the hundreds of Gold Star families in Wisconsin.
Beginning July 1, Gold Star family members can get a personalized Gold Star Family license plate free of additional charge in honor of their loved one’s service and sacrifice. The new law ensures Wisconsin appropriately recognizes Gold Star families and the extraordinary sacrifices they and their loved ones have made on behalf of a grateful nation. “
As we celebrate Independence Day and enjoy the freedoms that define our nation, our thoughts and prayers are especially with the Gold Star families whose loved ones made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of those freedoms. Their loss is a burden that can never truly be repaid, but it is one we must never forget,” said Senator Hutton.
“I am honored to have had a role in helping these families receive this modest but very deserved recognition. As we gather with family and friends this Fourth of July weekend, may we remember those who gave everything for our country and keep their families in our hearts and prayers. Their sacrifice is part of the story of America’s freedom, and we owe them all our deepest gratitude.”
The Gold Star license plates can now be ordered and personalized at specialplates.wi.gov. The new law, 2025 Wisconsin Act 50, was co-authored by Senator Hutton this past session as Senate Bill 38 and was signed into law late last year.
