#MUBB Travels to No. 6/6 Purdue Saturday Afternoon
Peacock/NBC Sports Network feature 1 p.m. CT broadcast
The Marquette University men’s basketball team (5-5, 0-0 BIG EAST) wraps up the non-conference portion of its 2025-26 campaign when the team travels to No. 6/6 Purdue (9-1, 2-0 Big Ten) for a 1 p.m. CT matchup on Saturday, Dec. 13 in Mackey Arena. Peacock features the broadcast, with John Fanta (play-by-play) and Jess Settles (analyst) calling the action. Following Saturday’s outing, the Golden Eagles open BIG EAST competition at Fiserv Forum on Wednesday, Dec. 17 against Georgetown.
Marquette Meets Familiar Non-League Foe
Saturday’s outing concludes a home-and-home series against Purdue, a team the Golden Eagles have met on five occasions in the last eight seasons, including each of the last four campaigns.
The Boilermakers claimed a 75-73 overtime victory on March 15, 1969 in the NCAA Mideast Regional final, courtesy of a buzzer-beating jumper by Rick Mount. Marquette had defeated Murray State and No. 7 Kentucky in the tourney, but Al McGuire‘s squad came up just short in its bid for a first-ever Final Four trip. Marquette was led by legendary George Thompson, who scored 28 points in his final collegiate game.
Stevens Shines In First Start
Freshman guard Adrien Stevens made his first-career start at Wisconson last Saturday afternoon and collected a personal-best performance in the team’s first true road game of the campaign.
The Potomac, Maryland, native led the team with a season-high 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the floor overall and a 3-of-7 effort from behind the 3-point line. He also chipped in two rebounds, an assist and a steal in just 22 minutes of action. Prior to Saturday, Stevens’ previous scoring high was a nine-point effort against Valparaiso on Dec. 2.
Ross’ Name Found Frequently In BIG EAST Stats
Preseason All-BIG EAST First Team selection Chase Ross is ranked among the league leaders in seven categories.
Through games of Dec. 10, the Dallas native ranks among the league leaders in scoring (1st, 19.5 ppg.), field goal percentage (5th, .484), free throw percentage (13th, .765), assists (t8th, 3.6 apg.), steals (3rd, 2.10 spg.), assist-to-turnover ratio (13th, 1.71) and minutes played (2nd, 32.5 mpg.).
Jones’ Name Scattered In Box Score In Return
Guard Sean Jones missed the entire 2024-25 campaign after injuring his knee against Butler on Jan. 10, 2024, finally returning to action in the season opener against UAlbany on Nov. 3 for his first-career-start.
