Pocan Votes Against Reckless Republican Funding Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Mark Pocan (WI-02) voted against the partisan government funding bill that fails to extend the Affordable Care Act tax credits that lower premiums for millions of Americans. Republicans drafted this bill without any input from Democrats.
A report released over the summer shows premiums for health insurance bought through the Affordable Care Act open marketplace are set to increase an average of 16% in Wisconsin, with some as high as 34.5%. These rate hikes are largely due to Republicans’ refusal to permanently extend a key tax break for families, the Enhanced Premium Tax Credit, in their Big Ugly Law.
