MILWAUKEE – Milwaukee families walked away with hundreds of free books at the fifth annual Biggest Free Little Library, a community celebration of reading and connection presented by Barby the Book Fairy, Komatsu and Literacy Services of Wisconsin.

What began as a simple idea to make books more accessible has grown into a beloved tradition. This year’s event blended the joy of discovering new stories with live entertainment, face painting, art activities and family fun, turning a book giveaway into a true neighborhood festival.

“We were thrilled to celebrate five years of putting books into the hands of our community,” said LSW Executive Director Holly McCoy. “Seeing families excited to take home books reminds us that literacy opens doors and builds community.”

Barbara Cerda, also known as Barby the Book Fairy, founder of Milwaukee’s Biggest Free Library, shares that “Nothing beats the smile of a child discovering a book that sparks their imagination. That’s the magic we hope to share at this event.”

Held at the Kosciuszko Community Center, the “Biggest Free Little Library” once again showcased Milwaukee’s dedication to literacy and community building, marking another successful year of sharing the power of books.
