9th District needs the right development, not just any development

Statement of Alderwoman Larresa Taylor July 14, 2025

By - Jul 14th, 2025 03:19 pm

I’d like to be clear. I am all for new development in the 9th District. I understand our city needs housing, and I have stated to the Mayor that I am happy to be part of the process to bring more housing to the city. I am happy to work with developers to ensure that we get quality housing, but I want to support smart development, development that is conscientious about the needs of residents and puts people first over dollars.

I will always stand with my residents who deserve and need the type of projects that add appropriate value without a laundry list of concerns along with it. I will be meeting with the Cudahy Farms development team, and together we will try to come up with a compromise that addresses the needs and desires of the impacted residents, as well as other stakeholders in the area.

I want projects that come to the 9th District to be set up for long term success. The end goal has to be all parties working together to achieve a compromise that is satisfactory to all those involved. We are not at that point yet, but I am hopeful we can get there.
