Milwaukee, WI – June 25, 2025 – No Instructions Gallery is proud to present Leave All the Doors Open, a solo exhibition of new work by Rachel Hausmann Schall. The show opens with a reception on Friday, June 11 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the gallery, located at 2124 E. Rusk Ave., Milwaukee, in the heart of the Bay View.

Rachel Hausmann Schall’s practice is rooted in abstraction, experimentation, and play. Centering on the immediacy and accessibility of collage, her work layers mark making, color, and texture to create balanced chaos in all-over compositions. Each piece invites the viewer to contemplate forms that blur the boundaries between painting, drawing, sculpture, and collage. With intuitive gestures and deliberate layering, she builds and excavates surfaces that hold visual records of emotion, memory, and thought. As she explains, “My works are an authentic exploration into the materiality of collage…an attempt to make sense of a complex world.”

Leave All the Doors Open explores themes of excess, information saturation, and the instinct to find structure within visual chaos. Combining artist-made drawings and prints with found materials, Schall challenges artistic hierarchies and embraces freedom in composition. These richly layered pieces embody discovery through destruction—ripped, cut, sanded, and reformed into something new.
