Revenue Re-estimates Require Cautious Budgeting

By - May 15th, 2025 03:51 pm

MADISON, WI – Today, the Legislative Fiscal Bureau (LFB) released new revenue re-estimates. In response to the re-estimates, Joint Committee on Finance (JFC) Co-Chairs Senator Howard Marklein (R-Spring Green) and Representative Mark Born (R-Beaver Dam) made the following statement:

“While we are not surprised by these new estimates, we remain cautious as we work to craft a budget that invests in our priorities, funds our obligations, and puts the State of Wisconsin in a strong fiscal position for the future.

“The cost-to-continue remains high and our collections are down slightly compared to January estimates, therefore we must continue the success of Republican budgets of the past in order to ensure that we can meet our ongoing obligations.

“We are calling on Governor Tony Evers to take these revenue re-estimates seriously. Come to the table with legislative leaders and work with us to craft a reasonable budget that works for Wisconsin.”
