Wisconsin AFL-CIO Endorses Jill Underly for Re-Election as State Superintendent of Public Instruction
Madison, WI – Today, the campaign of Wisconsin State Superintendent of Public Instruction Jill Underly enthusiastically accepted the endorsement of the Wisconsin AFL-CIO. The Wisconsin AFL-CIO represents hard-working members at the state and local level, in both public- and private-sector unions.
“Jill Underly is a proven, accomplished leader who will fight for our kids’ and our families’ future every single day,” said Stephanie Bloomingdale, President of the Wisconsin AFL-CIO. “Jill Underly has been an outspoken advocate for educators’ right to have a safe workplace with family-supporting wages and benefits. She has been a champion for public education, and has worked successfully to expand Career & Technical Education programs and partnerships.”

This is why I have proposed a $4 billion increase in public education funding over the next two years, so we can start to reverse the trend of underfunding our public schools. We must get our incredible educators the resources and benefits they need, and ensure our kids have the opportunities they deserve for their future.”
Underly is a proven leader who has led Wisconsin public schools from 14th in the nation in 2020 to 6th according to US News and World Report. Under her leadership, the Department of Public Instruction has invested in Career & Technical Education, prioritized literacy programs, expanded mental health support, and advocated for free and healthy school meals for all public school kids. She is committed to continuing the progress made in her first term and looks forward to tackling new challenges facing Wisconsin’s students, families and educators.
