Sabato’s Crystal Ball Moves Wisconsin Governor’s Race to Lean Democratic After David Crowley’s Primary Victory
MILWAUKEE, WI — Following David Crowley’s victory in Wisconsin’s Democratic primary for governor, Sabato’s Crystal Ball has moved the 2026 Wisconsin governor’s race from Toss-Up to Lean Democratic, citing Crowley’s ability to build a broad coalition and the changing political environment in the battleground state.
Crowley enters the general election with a clear choice for Wisconsin voters: a proven leader focused on getting things done, or Tom Tiffany, whose record in Congress puts him firmly in the national MAGA camp.
MAGA Congressman Tom Tiffany’s record is too extreme for Wisconsin:
- Tiffany voted to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election and continues to refuse to acknowledge that Donald Trump lost Wisconsin in 2020.
- Tiffany is a 100% Trump-aligned Congressman. Tiffany has voted with President Trump 100% of the time, making clear whose agenda he has put first.
- Trump endorsed Tiffany for governor, saying Tiffany “has always been at my side.” Tiffany has made his loyalty to Trump a central part of his political identity. Tiffany has voted for 100% of Trump’s agenda.
David Crowley’s vision is about putting Wisconsin first:
- As Milwaukee County Executive, Crowley has focused on delivering results and bringing people together, including working across party lines to secure a bipartisan agreement with the Republican-led state Legislature in 2023.
- Crowley will focus on lowering costs for families, expanding opportunity and making sure Wisconsin is a place where working people can afford to live, raise a family and get ahead.
- Crowley believes Wisconsin should compete for jobs and investment by strengthening public education, supporting businesses and workers, and building the infrastructure communities need to grow.
