Senator Hesselbein Celebrates Gov Evers’ Year of the Kid Declaration

MADISON, Wis – During the 2025 State of the State Address, Governor Tony Evers declared 2025 the Year of the Kid. Senator Dianne Hesselbein (D-Middleton) thanked Governor Evers for focusing on one of Wisconsin’s most precious resources, our children. Senator Hesselbein released the following statement:

“An investment in our kids is an investment in our future. Well-nourished, well-educated, and well-cared-for children result in healthy, strong, and productive adults. Ensuring families can access affordable child care, quality public schools, and mental health care will make our state better for every person living here.

“We also must ensure that not just our children but every Wisconsinite can exist within their community without living in fear of gun violence. We can all agree that firearms should be kept out of the hands of people who pose a threat to themselves or others, and Governor Evers’ State of the State Address offered common sense, pragmatic gun safety reform that is widely popular among Wisconsinites. It’s far past time to act.”
