Libertarian Party of Wisconsin Laments New Bureaucracy in Madison
Earlier this week, Governor Tony Evers signed an executive order creating another layer of bureaucracy in Madison by creating the Office of Violence Prevention. This agency appears, at best, to be nothing more than a pass through gatekeeper, wasting taxpayer money dictating who gets what taxpayer funds with little, if any, voter accountability. At worst, it could very well be the worst protection racket, demanding ideological fealty before funds are granted.
The Libertarian Party of Wisconsin (LPWI) has and will always oppose unnecessary expansion or creation of unneeded bureaucracy. There are few things in our lives that are worse than government problems, and many of them are government solutions.
Instead of demanding government protect us, perhaps we should return to protecting ourselves. Bring a meal to the family down the street who is struggling. Shovel the walk for the elderly couple who can’t move as well anymore. Volunteer at the school to help make sure that everyone entering the doors belongs there. It sure beats the alternative.
