Carthage panel offers cybersecurity pointers in the AI age

KENOSHA, Wis. – Carthage College will host an all-alumni panel of IT professionals and tech leaders Tuesday, Nov. 12, where these experts will explore what the public needs to know about cybersecurity as companies pivot to AI-powered technology and systems.

The discussion and luncheon, hosted by the Carthage Business and Professional Coalition and moderated by Professor Rick Bingen, will be held on campus at 2001 Alford Park Drive. The event begins at 11:30 a.m. and runs until 1 p.m. Admission is free, but advance registration is required due to limited seating.

Representing a diverse range of industry and expertise, these panelists include:

• Victoria Nguyen, a 2005 Carthage alumna and co-founder of Servitium Cyber, a cybersecurity consulting firm whose mission is to empower small businesses with practical knowledge, a security mindset, and tools that safeguard their operations from digital threats.
• Andrew Munson, senior manager of information risk management and governance for the McDonald’s Corporation, who graduated in 1998 and brings a human-centered approach to security training with the goal to raise awareness, influence behavior, and create a culture of cybersecurity throughout his system.
• Kristopher Keckler, chief information officer of Kenosha Unified School District and a 1997 Carthage graduate, who has taught courses at multiple postsecondary organizations focusing on many different technological topics.

All of the featured panelists share a common concern for protecting human data and ensuring the digital safety of those they serve. They will share their insights from corporate, education, and government sectors on both the dangers and possibilities that are presented by the new reliance on AI data.

The Business and Professional Coalition is a network of regional civic, business, and professional leaders who have met regularly at Carthage for nearly 30 years. They welcome guest speakers to discuss topics that aim to further the economic growth of the region.
