Milwaukee Man Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison for Stalking, Threats to Prosecutor and Witness
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin Department of Justice is announcing that Lonny Mayer, a 56-year-old Milwaukee man, was sentenced to 20 years of initial confinement and 10 years of extended supervision after being convicted in May 2026 of 23 criminal counts, including stalking, threats to a prosecutor, and felony intimidation of a witness. Mayer’s crimes are related to his conduct in connection with a prior prosecution by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office from 2020 to 2023.
“The defendant in this case was a menace who used threats to try to avoid being held accountable,” said Attorney General Josh Kaul. “The lengthy sentence he received shows that those who engage in the kind of outrageous conduct that he did face substantial prison time.”
The evidence at the trial in May demonstrated that, through a series of letters and outbursts in court, Mayer stalked the victim – a woman with whom he had had a relationship and who was the victim in the domestic violence cases for which he was being tried at the time – and made multiple threats to injure or kill her and her family. Mayer urged the victim to stop cooperating with prosecutors, attempted to enlist others to dissuade her from cooperating with prosecutors, and made threats to her employer.
Additionally, Mayer, in letters and courtroom outbursts, was also found to have made multiple threats against the life and family of the prosecutor handling the cases against him.
This case was investigated by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office and prosecuted by the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
The first and second criminal complaints, as well as the amended information, are linked.
