Wraparound Milwaukee Invites Youth and Families to Children’s Mental Health Celebration May 9

 

MILWAUKEE – In celebration of Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week May 5-11, 2024, Wraparound Milwaukee is hosting a community event Thursday, May 9th from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Owen’s Place, located at 4610 W. Fond Du Lac Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53216. The event is free to children, youth and families with family-friendly activities, connections to resources and mental health support for children and families in the community.

The celebration will feature a range of fun, family-friendly activities for youth and families. Attendees can enjoy food, root beer float station, explore mental health resources, and join in activities designed to promote mental well-being. A live DJ will set the tone for the festivities, ensuring an atmosphere of positivity and unity.

According to Shakita LaGrant-McClain, Executive Director of the Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), “Supporting children and families in our community is part of our core mission at DHHS. I applaud our team for bringing the community together for this great event to bring awareness to Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week and available mental health resources and support. I’m excited our community is coming together to invest in the well-being of our youth.”

Brian McBride, Director of Wraparound Milwaukee-Children’s Community Mental Health Services, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “Wraparound Milwaukee is deeply committed to serving youth and families in our community. This timely Children’s Mental Health Celebration underscores our commitment to connecting with families and ensuring our kids are getting the support they need to be successful.”

The Children’s Mental Health Celebration promises to be an inspiring event, offering a chance to connect with other families and resources through Wraparound Milwaukee and the network of community providers. All members of the community are invited to attend this free community event.
