Dr. Jeanette Mitchell will be honored as the 2023 AACCWI Business Champion

MILWAUKEE, Wis (August 28, 2023) –Jeanette Mitchell, Ed.D., Chief Creative Officer of Leadership by Dr. Jeanette (LBDJ), will receive the 2023 Business Champion Award from the African American Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin (AACCWI).

The Breakfast of Champions, presented by Fiserv, is the signature annual fundraising event aimed at bringing the Greater Milwaukee community together to support the AACCWI’s mission and to honor a local business leader who is passionate about economic development and wealth creation in the African American community.

The AACCWI will celebrate 30 years of advocating for African American businesses in the Greater Milwaukee area during their annual fundraiser event held the morning of Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at the Fiserv Forum in downtown Milwaukee.

“We are thrilled to be able to convene and celebrate such a tremendous milestone in our organization’s history. Since 1993, we have experienced transformative change and created space for Black entrepreneurs to grow and thrive and I am honored to serve as Event Chair having the opportunity to recognize Dr. Mitchell as our 2023 Business Champion,” said Attorney Warren Buliox, AACCWI Board Chair and Event Chair.

Dr. Jeanette, through her firm, LBDJ works in creative partnerships to direct, design and manage leadership development programs throughout the greater Milwaukee area. Through Dr. Jeanette’s vision and expertise, she created the African American Leadership Alliance of Milwaukee (AALAM), an initiative addressing the development and sustainability of Black leadership throughout Milwaukee, which is also home of the African American Leadership Program (AALP). Dr. Jeanette has received many awards and is a respected thought leader for her multi-faceted experience in for-profit and non-profit business, education, and politics.

“Dr. Jeanette’s passion of authenticity and unleashing impactful leadership among the African American community is just one of the reasons she is a champion! Her advocacy, leadership and vision have produced countless leaders in the Greater Milwaukee business community and beyond and will reverberate in this space for years to come,” said Nikki Purvis, President & CEO of the AACCWI.

In addition to the Business Champion Award, the AACCWI will recognize TrueMan McGee as the Young Pioneer Awardee. The Rising Star Awardee, selected by public voting, will be announced at the event. The three (3) finalists are Rochelle Einsiedel | OH Snap! By Shell; Tomira White | Delicious Bites; Alise Kumar | AP Makeup Academy.

The chair of this year’s Breakfast of Champions is Warren Buliox, AACCW Board Chair and Equity Partner at MWH Law Group, LLC. The emcee will be Bryant McCray of CBS 58 News. The Presenting Champion sponsor of the fundraiser is Fiserv. The theme of this year’s Breakfast of Champions is “Full-Court Press!”
