Gregory Wesley will be honored as the 2022 AACCW Business Champion

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (Nov. 15, 2022) – Gregory M. Wesley, JD, Senior Vice President of Strategic Alliances and Business Development for Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), will receive the 2022 Business Champion Award from the African American Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin.

The Breakfast of Champions is the signature annual fundraising event aimed at bringing the Greater Milwaukee community together to support the AACCW’s mission and to honor a local business leader who is passionate about economic development and wealth creation in the African American community.

The AACCW is excited to resume this in-person fundraiser event held the morning of Wednesday, Dec. 14.

Wesley possesses more than 25 years of experience as a lawyer and executive in the private, nonprofit, and academic sectors. In his current role with MCW, Wesley serves as a key strategic leader, ambassador, and advisor, responsible for ensuring the execution of MCW’s strategic initiatives and projects through established and emerging partnerships with the aim of supporting and creating opportunities for MCW’s long-term growth in Milwaukee and communities partnered with its regional campuses in Green Bay and Wausau.

“Gregory Wesley has been a staunch supporter of the AACCW and his advocacy for Black businesses continues to reverberate throughout the greater Milwaukee area. His work will impact entrepreneurs for years to come, and we are excited to honor him and his contributions to this organization, members, and community.” said Nikki Purvis, president and CEO of the AACCW.

The keynote speaker at the 2022 Breakfast of Champions will be actress and Milwaukee native, Joyful Drake. While in college, Joyful experienced her first brush with the entertainment industry. For two and a half years she had an exciting time as a dancer for the NBA Milwaukee Bucks, she remains an avid fan and loves the NFL’s Green Bay Packers. After graduation, she moved to New York to pursue an acting career. Her first job was a recurring role on the hit Showtime series Soul Food. Today, Drake leads the 8-episode drama series HUSH for streamer ALLBLK premiering December 1. Joyful is a lifelong entrepreneur that will deliver a champion building message on resilience.

The chair of this year’s Breakfast of Champions is Dr. Lia A. Knox, Founder & CEO of Knox Behavioral Health Solutions (KBHS) and Co-Founder of the non-profit Black Space Inc. The emcee will be Deirdra Kendrix of DC Global Group. The Presenting Grand Slam sponsor of the fundraiser is the Social Development Commission.

The theme of this year’s Breakfast of Champions is “Play Like a Champion!”
