Governor Tony Evers Appoints Former State Treasurer Sarah Godlewski to Fill La Follette’s Vacancy
MADISON – Today, Secretary of State Doug La Follette announced that he was stepping down from his position as Secretary of State. Governor Tony Evers stated that he is appointing former State Treasurer Sarah Godlewski to complete Secretary La Follette’s term. Senator Melissa Agard (D-Madison), State Senate Democratic Leader, released the following statement:
“I am confident that former State Treasurer Sarah Godlewski will serve as Secretary of State with the utmost dedication, putting the people of Wisconsin first. In her time as State Treasurer, Sarah led the Treasurers Homeowner’s Task Force to help Wisconsinites buy, fix, and stay in their homes. She also served as chair of a Retirement Security Task Force and put forth a comprehensive plan to expand retirement security. I am thrilled to see yet another qualified and brilliant woman serving in a statewide office.
