Fitzgerald Introduces Three Pieces of Legislation to Start 118th Congress

WASHINGTON, DC – This week, Congressman Scott Fitzgerald (WI-05) introduced three pieces of legislation:

Vaccine Discharge Parity Act
Congressman Scott Fitzgerald was joined by House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Mike Bost (R-IL) to introduce the Vaccine Discharge Parity Act.

This legislation would amend Title 38, U.S. Code, to ensure that a member of the Armed Forces who receives a general discharge under honorable conditions on the sole basis of refusing the COVID-19 vaccine remains eligible for G.I. Bill education benefits.

“Those who have fought to defend our country should never be deprived of the benefits they so rightly deserve, said Congressman Scott Fitzgerald. While Republicans fought successfully to revoke the COVID-19 vaccine mandate for our servicemembers, there’s still more work to do. We must continue to fight for those unjustly stripped of the benefits they earned.”

CRT Transparency Act
Congressman Scott Fitzgerald and House Committee on Education and the Workforce Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC) introduced the Curriculum Review of Teachings (CRT) Transparency Act.

This legislation would ensure local school districts post the curriculum for each grade of their elementary and secondary schools on a publicly accessible website as a condition of federal funding.

“Parents have the right to know what their children are being taught in the classroom, said Congressman Scott Fitzgerald.  It’s clear bureaucrats and teachers’ unions have no reservations about putting divisive material such as critical race theory in front of our children that seeks to put people in groups based on skin color or gender.  The CRT Transparency Act will solve this problem by helping parents get a straight answer about what their children are hearing in school.”

“Parents should have a say in what their children learn in school—and I believe the more parents learn what CRT really is, the more they will resist it. That’s why there needs to be open communication between schools and parents, said Education and the Workforce Committee Chairwoman Virginia Foxx (R-NC). This legislation will ensure such communication takes place. Too often, the education bureaucracy pits parents and educators against one another—this is not how our education system was intended to work. The CRT Transparency Act will give parents the curriculum transparency they need, ensuring school administrators can no longer hide behind vague and opaque language.”

Separation of Powers Restoration Act (SOPRA)
Congressman Scott Fitzgerald introduced the Separation of Powers Restoration Act (SOPRA).

This legislation that would mitigate the abuse of power by unelected bureaucrats in our federal agencies.

“The Constitution is clear in its intent that legislative power rest in the hands of Congress, said Congressman Scott Fitzgerald. Federal bureaucrats have abused the Chevron deference and the Supreme Court pushed back on that overreach in the recent case of West Virginia v. EPA.
