RPW Statement on AG Kaul Abortion Lawsuit

[Appleton, WI] – Attorney General Josh Kaul continues to try to find ways around Wisconsin law. Today he removed three Republican legislators in a lawsuit he filed to try to overturn Wisconsin’s abortion law, instead replacing them as defendants with three local district attorneys.

Republican Party of Wisconsin Chairman Paul Farrow issued the following statement.

“Josh Kaul is completely out of touch with the crime occurring in Wisconsin, which is why he has zero law enforcement endorsements and why he will stop at nothing to waste taxpayer dollars on a fruitless reelection attempt, pushing an insane lawsuit without merit.”

As reported by the Journal Sentinel, the district attorneys in Dane, Milwaukee and Sheboygan Counties represent the counties that had abortion clinics prior to the Supreme Court overturning the federal abortion law in a decision earlier this year.

Of the three district attorneys named as defendants in the case, only the Sheboygan County district attorney pledged to prosecute doctors who violated the state’s abortion ban.
