Governor Scott Walker today announced a $1,235,530 project to rehabilitate airfield pavements and make safety improvements at General Mitchell International Airport.
Governor Scott Walker today announced a $1,235,530 project to rehabilitate airfield pavements and make safety improvements at General Mitchell International Airport.
Wendy Hottenstein, project manager with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), said that the project will improve runway and taxiway lighting and replace runway 1L/19R shoulder pavement and various concrete panels on Taxiway R.
Funding Breakdown
- State = $154,441
- Milwaukee County = $154,441
- Federal Aviation Administration = $926,648
Construction is scheduled to be finished by summer of 2015.
General Mitchell International Airport is one of 98 facilities included in the Wisconsin State Airport System Plan, which makes it eligible for state and federal funding. Airport improvement projects are administered through WisDOT’s Bureau of Aeronautics.
