Ron Johnson Failures: Johnson Has Prolonged the Pandemic With His Dangerous COVID Disinformation Campaign
MADISON, Wis. — Ron Johnson has spent the duration of the pandemic spreading dangerous disinformation that has prolonged Wisconsin and the country’s ability to fully recover. What started as dismissing the dangers of COVID has evolved into Johnson lying about the effectiveness of the vaccine and pushing for alternative treatments that have landed people in the hospital.
See below for Johnson’s dangerous history of prolonging the COVID pandemic:
- Despite unvaccinated people accounting for roughly 99% of COVID deaths, Johnson continues to sow doubts about the effectiveness of vaccines.
- Johnson has also lied that there is no FDA approved vaccine.
- Johnson previously stated: “if we have an effective vaccine and a safe one, and that’s the only one we’ll release. But if you are out there undermining that possibility, that will cause people’s deaths.”
- Johnson claimed that ventilators, which keep critically ill COVID patients alive, are doing more harm than good.
- Johnson voted against The Families First Coronavirus Response Act, which included: ”free coronavirus testing, expanded family and medical leave for some, paid emergency sick leave for some, unemployment benefits, food assistance, and protections for health care workers. It passed the Senate in a 90-8 vote.”
“Ron Johnson has completely undermined and slowed down our ability to fully bounce back from the COVID pandemic as he has spread dangerous disinformation,” Democratic Party of Wisconsin Senate Communications Advisor Philip Shulman said. “Johnson has failed his job to help Wisconsinites by playing self serving political games that do nothing for our state.”
