On Joe Manchin Supporting the Senate’s 60-vote threshold
“I hope [Senator Joe Manchin] holds true to his promise, because it would be a disaster to eliminate that 60-vote threshold. And that’s what we are talking about is forcing any kind of massive important piece of legislation that’s not related to the budget, you have to have some kind of bipartisan cooperation, 60 votes. In today’s Senate we’re split 50/50 – that means 10 Republicans signing on. That’s going to force compromise and that’s going to force bipartisanship, but that’s not what President Biden and Democrats are focused on right now.”
