Local First announces winners of Grow Local Business giveaway

Local First Milwaukee wrapped up its Grow Local Business campaign last week.

MilwaukeeLocal First Milwaukee wrapped up its Grow Local Business campaign last week. The effort was focused on shifting business spending back to Milwaukee by offering resources and educational opportunities.

In addition, the Grow Local Business Challenge asked local businesses to describe how they shifted or will shift their business spending to support the local economy. Three Milwaukee-area businesses won nearly $5,000.00 in prizes for participating.

The winners are as follows:

FIRST PRIZE: SIMMER TRUCK
Advertising on OnMilwaukee.com  $2,500 value
Storefront on Okanjo.com  $240 value

SECOND PRIZE: KATHY’S 2ND CHANCE PLANTS
Marketing Services by Jackie Steinmetz Consulting  $400 value
Microsoft Prize Pack from Attivo Technologies  $700 value
Advertising on UrbanMilwaukee.com  $300 value

THIRD PRIZE: CASH COUPON: THE COMMUNITY CHOICE
Moving Boxes from Brew City Boxes  $200 value.
Lighting System Evaluation from Logical Green Solutions  $134 value

“The Grow Local Business initiative was our first campaign of this kind – and we’re thankful for the participation of over 30 local businesses,” said Robert Wendt, President at Cultivate Communications and member of Local First Milwaukee. Cultivate Communications sponsored the initiative.

Local First Milwaukee has three more campaigns planned to round out the year:

Move your Money (May, June, July) focuses on encouraging consumers to switch to local banks, and offers help with local business funding opportunities. The Equitable Bank is the initiative’s Premier sponsor, with Brewery Credit Union and FOCUS Credit Union onboard as Advocate sponsors. Keep an eye out for educational events and other networking opportunities over the next few months.

Eat Local (August, September, October), Sponsored by Outpost Natural Foods, will feature different ways and places to eat locally.

Finally, Buy Local (November, December) will round out 2014 with an emphasis on purchasing local items for the holidays and throughout the year. The popular Buy Local Gift Fair will take place during this time.
