Supervisor Patti Logsdon Opposes Tax Levy Increase

MILWAUKEE – At Monday’s annual Milwaukee County Budget Adoption meeting, Supervisor Patti Logsdon voted against adopting the finalized 2021 budget. In an effort to balance the county’s budget, the property tax levy was increased by $2.9 million from the 2020 levy.

“I understand that the COVID-19 crisis made this a very difficult year for the county’s finances,” said Logsdon. “It is equally true, though, that this has been a very tough year for my constituents. With that in mind, I could not justify raising the tax levy. We serve our constituents best by not raising taxes.”

Despite voting against the finalized budget, Supervisor Logsdon supported various amendments to ensure that the finalized 2021 budget adequately funded the Milwaukee County Office of the Sheriff.

“I was proud to support the Sheriff by voting against numerous proposals that would have taken away essential funding,” said Logsdon. “The safety of my constituents is one of my highest priorities. Many of the amendments I supported and passed ensure that the Sheriff has the resources he needs to meet that need.”

The 2021 Milwaukee County budget was adopted on a 14-4 vote.
