Supervisor Patti Logsdon Announces Extension of Rawson Avenue Reconditioning Project

MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors passed (18-0) a resolution last Thursday that provides additional funding to extend the current resurfacing project along Rawson Avenue. The extension will go from USH 45 to North Cape Road.

“I am pleased that additional funding was reallocated to continue repairs on Rawson Avenue,” said Supervisor Patti Logsdon. “The area has long been a concern for Franklin and District 9 residents. With this additional funding, the project which begins at Hawthorne Avenue in fellow Franklin Supervisor Staskunas’ district will be extended west through my district, ending at North Cape Road.”

The County Board reallocated bonds for this project to meet an IRS requirement that the County must state that it expects to spend all proceeds within three years of issuing tax-exempt bonds. This funding is in addition to a State of Wisconsin Local Roads Improvement Program grant awarded to the Milwaukee County Department of Transportation in April 2020.

“I want to thank the Comptroller and the county’s Department of Transportation staff for their diligence to make sure our monies are well spent,” said Logsdon. “We are fortunate to have staff who continue to perform admirably doing more with less.”

The extension project is set to begin in 2020. The existing project on Rawson Avenue from Hawthorne to USH 45 began earlier this month.
