Assembly Republicans ready to go home with important issues left undone
Statement from Assembly Minority Leader Peter Barca
Assembly Democratic Leader Peter Barca (D-Kenosha) released the following statement today after Republican leaders made clear they planned to adjourn the Assembly for the year at the end of next week’s floor period:
“With so much important work left undone, I am disappointed and stunned to learn that Assembly Republicans are ready to pack up and go home barely two and a half months into the year.
“Apparently Republicans are satisfied with Wisconsin being 37th in the nation in job growth, promised school accountability measures unfinished and middle-class families continuing to struggle. Republicans have made it clear the only issue they would prioritize is further voter suppression. This sends the signal that they are done working for the taxpayers and would prefer to focus strictly on their own re-elections.”
