Milwaukee Earthquake
There was an apparent earthquake in Milwaukee today that was part of a larger quake that ranged as far east as Vermont.
It was felt at our office at Milwaukee and Mason, the Journal Sentinel offices on 4th and Street, the Germania building on Wells and Plankinton, and the Biz Times offices in the Third Ward. At this point it seems that it was confined to downtown Milwaukee.
The surreal part was seeing tweets from the East Coast and Toronto come in about shaking buildings, searching for Twitter for more information, and then all the sudden having my entire office visibly shaking minutes later.
Did you experience anything?
UPDATE: Here’s the USGS report
UPDATE 2: A little Milwaukee earthquake history
We felt the building shake for about 30 to 45 seconds at 6th and Virginia in Milwaukee. Crazy!!!
Felt it on the 3rd floor at St. Paul and Broadway (across the street from the Public Market). Lasted about 30 seconds. Floor shimmied back and forth about a dozen times, light pendants swayed slightly.
Ok, weird – we didn’t feel anything at Wells & Jackson?
