Wisconsin Authors to Visit With 15 Local Schools

Students will be part of question-and-answer sessions with the authors at their schools.

Waukesha, Wisconsin – Oct. 3, 2019 – As part of the 10th Southeast Wisconsin Festival of Books, several Wisconsin authors will visit with 15 area schools on Oct. 25 and Nov. 1.

“Many of the authors, including me, are alumni of the schools,” said Kathie Girgio, author of five novels. “We will be meeting with small and large groups of students to discuss our inspirations, our writing processes, as well as our own published works.”

Students will be part of question-and-answer sessions with the authors at their schools, while Waukesha’s eAchieve Academy will be included in a live online session, according to the following schedule.

The Southeast Wisconsin Festival of Books is an annual community celebration of literacy and the arts, where more than 70 local and national authors and readers of all ages come together to enjoy talks, readings, awards, a cookbook stage, music, art, interviews and more.

This year, the festival theme is “Opening Doors.” It will take place Nov. 1-2 on the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee at Waukesha campus, located at 1500 N. University Drive in Waukesha.

Admission to the festival is free, apart from the opening keynote by author Andre Dubus III on Nov. 1 at 6:30 p.m.. The $10 cost for the one ticketed event includes the keynote and a reception. The UWM at Waukesha Foundation organizes the festival in cooperation with partners in the community.

For a small fee, a Writer’s Marketplace is also available for authors, as is an Exhibitors Hall for organizations to promote their work and services.
