Sara Geenen Announces Candidacy for Wisconsin’s 19th State Assembly District

MILWAUKEE—Today, Sara Geenen announced her candidacy for Wisconsin’s 19th Assembly District Seat. Geenen is a labor attorney at The Previant Law Firm, a wife, and mother of two children. She is running for office to bring the State Assembly’s focus back to Wisconsin’s working families.

In announcing her candidacy, Geenen recalled her own experiences as a working mother. “On a daily basis I see the real effects of poor policies on children and working families. As a parent in the trenches, I know how difficult it is to find affordable, high quality child care and I will fight to ensure a high quality public education is available to ALL Wisconsin families. It is clear to me that the state has lost its focus on creating and maintaining good jobs–the kinds that can support families and form the back bone of a community–not just minimum wage jobs.”

Geenen has and will continue to be a tireless advocate for workers’ rights.  “In my profession, I have been privileged to advocate on behalf of workers and their families. I have seen up close the worst of what happens to retirees’ health insurance and pensions when companies go bankrupt, or when workers face discrimination or injustice. I am a firm believer in the adage, that none of us do better unless we all do better.”

Geenen lives in Milwaukee with her husband, Jason Gehring, and two sons, Brady (3) and Matthew (1).  Geenen graduated cum laude from the University of Wisconsin Law School, Madison in 2006, is an attorney at The Previant Law Firm, and sits on the Board of the State Bar of Wisconsin Labor & Employment Law.  Geenen is also a member of the 9to5 Wisconsin Board and the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.
