Downtown Employee Appreciation Week kicks off July 22

Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21 to host Downtown Employee Appreciation Week, July 22 - 26

MILWAUKEE, Wis. (July 9, 2019) – Milwaukee Downtown, BID #21 will team up with downtown businesses and community leaders to celebrate downtown’s 83,490+ employees during the 14th annual Downtown Employee Appreciation Week, July 22 – 26. The weeklong celebration rewards downtown employees with outdoor entertainment, games, prizes, free lunches and after-hours events.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony, live music and prize opportunities will kick off the weeklong celebration on Monday, July 22 at 11:45 a.m. at Red Arrow Park. Lunch for 1,000 employees will be provided by Pita Pit, Davians and Starbucks. Throughout the week, lunchtime giveaways will travel to various downtown locations and include 1,000-item treats ranging from subs and pizza to smoothies and cookies.

In addition to food and live music, brand-new Office Challenge Games will be offered. New games include Corporate Ladder, Three-Ring Binder, and Donut Dunk. All activities will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Red Arrow Park (Monday, July 22), Pere Marquette Park (Tuesday, July 23), Schlitz Park (Wednesday, July 24), Zeidler Union Square (Thursday, July 25), and Cathedral Square Park (Friday, July 26).

New this year, co-workers can go head-to-head with I Work Downtown Bubble Soccer Tournament in Veterans Park at 5 p.m. on Monday, July 22. Downtown employees can enjoy live music, free food and beer samples from Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery during Postman’s Porch Unplugged at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23. On Thursday, July 25, downtown employees can Perk Up with Dunkin’® and receive one of the 600 Dunkin’® gift cards at a giveaway from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Chase Tower. Plus, employees can enjoy an hour of free yoga at City Hall at 5:30 p.m. or hop to Postman Square for A Wee Bit Irish Fest featuring Irish-themed music, dancing, free food and beer samples from Mo’s Irish Pub from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 25.

Crowd-favorite activities returning this year include daily rounds of the Bucks Basketball Shootout, the World’s Largest Coffee Break in Catalano Square at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23, and “I Work Downtown” Trivia competition at SportClub at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24. Plus, downtown employees can receive savings on tickets to Broadway’s ANASTASIA at the Marcus Center on July 26 and July 28.

Downtown Employee Appreciation Week will conclude with a closing ceremony featuring live music, games and lunch for 1,000 downtown employees on Friday, July 26 from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Cathedral Square Park. In addition, completed Downtown Employee Appreciation Week passports will be pulled for a prize drawing that recognizes employees who participated in three or more events. Passports must be turned in by 12:30 p.m. on Friday, July 26 to a Public Service Ambassador to be eligible for the drawing.
