Festival City Symphony Opens Symphony Sundays Season with “Glorious Symphonists” Concert

Milwaukee, Wis.—Festival City Symphony will begin its 2018-2019 “Symphony Sundays” series with a concert titled Glorious Symphonists on Sun., Sept. 30, at the Pabst Theater, 144 East Wells Street. In a change from previous years, Symphony Sundays will begin at 2 p.m. this season.

The concert will include Overture to Les Franc-Juges, op. 3 by Hector Berlioz, Slavonic Dances by Antonin Dvorak, and Symphony no. 5 by Peter Ilych Tchaikovsky. According to Music Director Carter Simmons, the romantic-era compositions are a rich and compelling mix of grand opera and the sounds of the homeland. “Our program will end with Tchaikovsky’s expansive Fifth Symphony,” Simmons said, “a work profound in expression and deeply personal in its beauty.”

FCS welcomes children to these concerts, which are most appropriate for those in second grade and older. Prior to each concert at 1:45 p.m., Lynn Roginske presents “Children’s Program Notes,” offered to help children become familiar with the music they are about to hear.

Admission to each concert is $14 for adults and $8 for children, students, and seniors. A season Family Pack admits an entire family to all four concerts for just $85; Couples Packs admit two people to all four concerts for $72; a Single Adult Pack admits one adult to all four concerts for $50; and a Senior or Student Pack admits one adult over age 60 or a student to all four concerts for $28.
