Scott Pate Receives The Marcus Corporation 2016 Ben Marcus Humanitarian Award
When not volunteering his musical talents with the MSO or his church, Pate is the principal percussionist for the Concord Chamber Orchestra.
MILWAUKEE, June 28, 2017….. Scott Pate, a resident of Wauwatosa, Wis., has been honored by The Marcus Corporation as one of three 2016 Ben Marcus Humanitarian of the Year Award recipients. Pate works as the executive human resources coordinator and administrator for The Marcus Corporation.
The Ben Marcus Humanitarian Award, named after Marcus Corporation founder and committed community advocate Ben Marcus, builds on the company’s legacy of community involvement by recognizing exceptional associates who have gone above and beyond in their volunteering for others.
Throughout the year, Pate shares his time, talents and passion for music within his community. He regularly plays percussion at his church, Imago Dei, where he performs twice a month and practices weekly. He is a leading member of the church’s “Worship Lead Team” – a select group that guides musical direction for each service. He has volunteered to run rehearsals and oversee music operations, as well. He also serves as a member of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra’s (MSO) Forte Leadership Board. The Board is comprised of volunteers who plan, organize, and execute all of the educational, community outreach, and fundraising events for the MSO each year. Prior to the MSO’s Family Series Concerts, Pate helps kids learn how to be conductors and composers, and he often showcases his percussion instruments at schools around the metro area as part of the orchestra’s “Instrument Petting Zoo.”
When not volunteering his musical talents with the MSO or his church, Pate is the principal percussionist for the Concord Chamber Orchestra, an all-volunteer community orchestra. In his role, Pate assigns and distributes music to his fellow percussionists, provides guidance for difficult passages, and helps set up and take down the instruments before and after performances.
He contributes his time to each of these organizations in addition to working full-time for The Marcus Corporation, where he has worked for nearly three years.
To recognize his commitment to the community, The Marcus Corporation donated $1,000 to the charity of Pate’s choice, the music program at Lincoln Elementary School in Wauwatosa.
