Milwaukee, Wisc. May 24, 2017NEWaukee is proud to announce that the 2017 Night Market season starts on Wednesday, June 14. The Night Market is a monthly, open-air market that offers a wide variety of experiences for people of all backgrounds and ages on West Wisconsin Avenue between 2nd and 4th Streets.

NEWaukee founded the Night Market in the summer of 2014 with the goal of creating a free, vibrant, safe, and interactive place in downtown Milwaukee for people to experience culture at night. The program features over a hundred art and craft vendors, diverse food offerings, live art creation, pop up performances, music from True Skool, a beer garden, and interactive non-profit and community booths.

New this year, NEWaukee is teaming up with Summerfest for its 50 Days of Summerfest. At the June Market only, guests will find a unique projection of the Summerfest 50th poster on the side of a building, 40 feet wide by 55 feet tall. In addition, the limited edition Summerfest 50th poster, created by BlackPaint Studios, a local branding, art and design studio, will be available for purchase, and the artists will be on site to sign and number the posters.

Milwaukee County Transit System’s East-West Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project will also be featured at this summer’s Night Markets. BRT is Milwaukee County’s planned 9-mile, regional, modern transit service connecting major employment, education and recreation destinations through downtown Milwaukee, Milwaukee’s Near West Side, Marquette University, Wauwatosa, and the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center.

More featured activities include lifesize chess and checkers games presented by Zilber Property Group, s’more roasting with GRAEF, Boston Store’s sidewalk sale on 4th and Wisconsin Ave, a sneak peak into the plans for the Grand Theatre with Kahler Slater under the marquee, and bocce ball from American Bocce Co.

“The Night Market continues to build on the vision of a bright and vibrant future for Wisconsin Avenue,” says Angela Damiani, CEO of NEWaukee. “We’re honored to be able to showcase all that downtown has to offer to the community and visitors alike.”

The 2017 NEWaukee Night Market runs on West Wisconsin Avenue from 5 to 10 p.m. on the following Wednesday evenings: June 14th, July 12th, August 16th, and September 13th.
