It’s time for Mulchfest 2017
Mulchfest is an annual event to help keep Christmas trees out of the landfill.
The Washington Heights Neighborhood Association’s Green Committee, the City of Milwaukee, Milwaukee County and the Urban Ecology Center are hosting Mulchfest 2017 on Saturday, January 7, 2017, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Washington Park, according to Alderman Michael J. Murphy.
Mulchfest, an annual event to help keep Christmas trees out of the landfill by converting them into mulch (by city crews) for gardens and yards, will again be held in the parking lot located via the N. 40th St. (Urban Ecology Center) entrance to Washington Park, Alderman Murphy said.
“It’s a great program and I encourage neighbors to ‘go sustainable’ and help reduce the number of trees that will go to the landfill by taking their trees to Mulchfest instead,” Alderman Murphy said.
The Story Hill Neighborhood Association is also hosting a Christmas tree mulching event on Saturday, January 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon in General Mitchell Boulevard Park (west end – parking area near N. 51st and W. Blue Mound Rd.).
Additionally, the Enderis Park Neighborhood Association will also be hosting a similar event on Saturday (Jan. 7) morning in Enderis Park, near N. 72nd and W. Locust Streets.
