Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Statement On Trump White House Hires
"It is also beyond comprehension that Priebus is so willing and enthusiastic to run the White House alongside Steven Bannon..."
MADISON – Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Martha Laning released the following statement in light of Reince Priebus and Steve Bannon being named as Chief of Staff in the Trump White House administration:
“Donald Trump ran on improving the lives of everyday hard working Americans, but his first important decision was to hire Reince Priebus as his Chief of Staff – someone who cares more about winning elections at any cost than focusing on the needs of everyday people.
“It is also beyond comprehension that Priebus is so willing and enthusiastic to run the White House alongside Steven Bannon, someone who has made a name for himself pushing anti-Semitic, racist, and xenophobic propaganda that stands to be at the center of the next presidential administration.
“The promise of America that every person should have a fair shot to get ahead regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or zip code will be under fire thanks to the efforts of Reince Priebus and Steve Bannon to put Trump’s dangerous and divisive agenda into action.
“It is still my hope that Democrats and Republicans can work together to find solutions to the big problems facing our nation in the coming years. No matter what the future holds for us all, the Democratic Party of Wisconsin will continue to stand and fight against the hateful agenda Reince Priebus and Steve Bannon will pursue. There is no place in America where someone’s race, gender, or country of origin should prevent them from getting ahead, and we will not allow Priebus or Bannon to make our nation such a place.”
