BROWN DEER, Wis. – The Marquette women’s swimming team delivered a strong performance at the Wisconsin Showcase on Saturday, Oct. 17, earning multiple first-place finishes and showcasing depth across several events.

“This meet provided an opportunity for swimmers to take ownership of their racing by selecting events they had not competed in recently or wanted to try for the first time. The focus was on gaining valuable racing experience, exploring different events, and continuing to learn and improve through competition,” Head Coach Rollings said.

Kayla Wieckowski led the Golden Eagles with the highest individual point total of any swimmer at the meet. (610.3) Wieckowski claimed first place in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:33.59 before adding another first-place victory in the 200-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 2:07.25. She also recorded a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly with a season-best time of 2:07.83.

“One of the biggest highlights of the meet was Kayla Wieckowski, who had an outstanding weekend with two first-place finishes and one second-place finish,” Rollings highlighted. “Her performance earned her high-point honors, recognizing her as the swimmer who scored the most individual points at the meet. Her 400 IM was particularly strong and highlighted her continued progress.”

Marquette’s Enya Linson and Mackenzie Choinski also secured first-place finishes. Linson won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:33.68, while Choinski captured the 100-yard backstroke in a season-best time of 57.86.

The Golden Eagles continued to build momentum with several third-place finishes. Amelia Labno placed third in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.83, while Nina Newton finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:07.87. Finley Warren added a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 5:17.56. Lexie Gliniecki rounded out the group with a third-place finish in the 400-yard individual medley, posting a time of 4:42.95.

Evelyn Chin contributed another top two finish for Marquette, placing second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.13.

The Golden Eagles closed out the meet with a first-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Allie Seiler, Finley Warren, Janna Spetz and Chin combined to post a winning time of 1:37.55.

The Golden Eagles will return to the water to face Illinois State on Saturday, Nov. 7, at noon CT in Normal, Ill.
