Gov. Walker Signs Parent-Based School Accountability Act
Wisconsin schools must comply with this legislation by September of 2016.
Madison – Yesterday Governor Scott Walker signed Assembly Bill 722, the Parent-Based School Accountability Act, into law. This legislation, authored by State Representative Adam Neylon (R-Pewaukee), requires schools to post a link on their website to the School Report Card generated by the Department of Public Instruction (DPI).
“I trust parents to make the right choices for their students – and it is essential for parents to have as much information readily available to them as possible about the schools they are evaluating to send their children to,” said Rep. Neylon. “These DPI reports provide parents with objective data like enrollment numbers, reading and math achievement, student body make-up, ACT performance and graduation rates for each school. The more informed and engaged parents are with their children’s education the better.”
Wisconsin schools must comply with this legislation by September of 2016.
