Bayou’s State, an original aerial dance/theater piece by choreographer and performer Andrea Chastant Burkholder, explores her Cajun heritage as she travels through the declining Louisiana coastline, and it’s swamps and marshlands via an aerial net, bungee cords, and trapeze. Combining personal story, aerial and modern dance, theater, and river photography by Milwaukee artist, Eddee Daniel, Bayou’s State reflects on Louisiana’s coastal land loss as it relates to the local culture and environment. Begin the evening enjoying a traditional south Louisiana meal cooked by Andrea and her Cajun father as you sit nestled between the development along the Milwaukee River and Lake Michigan.
