Milwaukee – U.S. Congresswoman Gwen Moore Endorses Tom Barrett for Mayor
U.S. Congresswoman Gwen Moore endorsed Tom Barrett’s reelection for Mayor of Milwaukee today. “Tom Barrett is the proven fighter Milwaukee needs. In these tough times, Mayor Barrett is making a difference, setting up Milwaukee for a stronger future.”
Mayor Barrett was honored to receive Congresswoman Moore’s support. “It’s an honor to receive Congresswoman Moore’s endorsement. She’s been a true partner and dedicated advocate for the City of Milwaukee.”
Moore and Barrett have worked closely on a number of important initiatives for the City of Milwaukee. Most recently, the two fought hard for crucial Choice Neighborhood Program funding for the city’s northwest side, and collaborated to help 89,000 people in the Milwaukee area secure a health care plan through the Affordable Care Act. As a result of their efforts, the City of Milwaukee won the White House Healthy Communities Challenge – a nationwide program to reach uninsured individuals and help them gain vital coverage – and was hailed by President Barack Obama.
Congresswoman Moore continued, “Tom Barrett’s steadfast commitment to Milwaukee is undeniable. Every time Governor Scott Walker and his Republican allies try to harm our community with their backward policies, Mayor Barrett has always stood up for all of us. At a time when many seek to divide us with Donald Trump and Ted Cruz-like policies, Mayor Barrett has continued to work hard to bring our city together. That’s the kind of leader Milwaukee deserves.”
