Milwaukee, WI  — Attorney Vel Phillips, the first alderwoman in Milwaukee’s history, and the first African-American woman to serve as a judge in Wisconsin, announced her endorsement of Keith Bailey for Milwaukee Alderman in the 2nd District.

“Keith Bailey is a leader in Wisconsin civil rights advocacy. He’s worked tirelessly for families of all colors affected by violence, and as an NAACP and voting rights champion. I’m proud to be his friend and a key mentor. He has a track record of selfless service; as a veteran and as a community leader. His work with the City of Milwaukee has given him insight into boosting tax revenue by rehabbing neglected homes and properties, doing the important work of revitalizing our neighborhoods. Keith knows how to market our City to attract investors to bring vital employment to our youth and working families. Those skills will help him lead our City to better maintain, provide and improve services. Keith Bailey is the most experienced and best choice for Milwaukee’s 2nd District Alderman,” said Attorney Phillips.

Keith Bailey had this statement: “I’m humbled and deeply honored to receive this endorsement. The black community in Wisconsin follows in the footsteps of icons like Vel Phillips. I thank God, my family, my church, the State of Wisconsin and our Nation for the opportunity to give back. My service in our Armed Forces and as a proud City of Milwaukee employee have given me the maturity and insight to push Milwaukee in the right direction. Our public schools and institutions have lent me their talents, and it’s my duty to engage my neighbors and our youth to pass those talents on. I vow to work hard from day one to make sure homeowners, business owners, working families, the unemployed and underemployed have an advocate available 24/7 to address the diverse issues in Milwaukee’s 2nd District. I will be visible and vocal to call for reforms where needed, and fight daily to bolster successful programs. Our community needs a strong connection to City Hall and vital services. Our youth needs direction and knowledge of the opportunities our great City, County, State and Nation afford them. Vel Phillips is a hero of mine, and I proudly accept her endorsement.”
