Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation Hires New Chief Financial Officer
Brian Nowicki brings 15+ years of government, economic development accounting experience to position
MADISON, WI, Nov. 23, 2015 – The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) has tapped Brian Nowicki as its new chief financial officer.
Nowicki comes to WEDC from Madison College, where he has served as controller since 2014. Previously, Nowicki spent 15 years working for the Wisconsin Housing and Economic Development Authority (WHEDA), where he held the titles of financial officer, controller and senior economic development manager. In his most recent position with WHEDA, he managed the authority’s Economic Development Division. Responsibilities in this role included implementing new economic development debt and equity products and assisting in the management of WHEDA’s New Markets Tax Credit portfolio.
“Brian brings the specific industry experience and leadership qualities necessary to build upon WEDC’s strong accounting and financial management practices as recognized in three straight years of clean opinions on our financial statements by independent auditors,” said WEDC Secretary and CEO Mark Hogan. “I look forward to Brian joining the WEDC team and to leveraging his expertise in our fulfillment of WEDC’s mission to advance and maximize economic opportunity in Wisconsin.”
Nowicki, a Certified Public Accountant and Chartered Financial Analyst, holds a Master of Science Degree in finance, investment and banking from UW-Madison, where he also earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He also serves as chair of the City of Madison Housing Strategy Committee.
