Alderman Michael J. Murphy will join representatives from the Milwaukee Police Department and the Milwaukee Fire Department to encourage safe summer activities for children. The event will take place tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. at the entrance to Washington Park Pool, 1859 N. 40th St.
Alderman Murphy said a range of topics will be covered, from bicycle and pedestrian safety tips to safe swimming advice. Also, a Fire Department representative will discuss the hazards of opening fire hydrants — dangers posed to both firefighting personnel and residents/property owners.
“Summer break is a time when children are out and about, and they (and adults) need to be reminded about how they can keep themselves safe – in and near water and on streets where motorists may not be watching out for them as closely as they should be,” Alderman Murphy said.
