Toney Releases List of Additional Law Enforcement Associations Endorsing His Campaign
Zero Law Enforcement Associations Publicly Backing Josh Kaul’s Campaign
FOND DU LAC, WI – Fond du Lac County District Attorney and Republican candidate for Attorney General Eric Toney today announced the endorsements of three more Wisconsin law enforcement associations: the Kenosha Professional Police Association, the Milwaukee Police Supervisors Organization, and the Waukesha Deputy Sheriff’s Labor Union.
They join the Wisconsin Fraternal Order of Police, Milwaukee Police Association, which represents more than 1,200 Milwaukee officers, and a bipartisan coalition of over 80% of sheriffs from across Wisconsin – including Democrats, Republicans, and Independents – endorsing Toney’s campaign. To date, no police associations have publicly backed Attorney General Josh Kaul and as few as one sheriff has publicly endorsed Kaul’s reelection.
“I’m honored to have the support from officers in Kenosha, the supervisors who lead Milwaukee’s police department, and the deputies who patrol Waukesha County. They’ve watched Josh Kaul break promise after promise for eight years, making their jobs more difficult,” said Eric Toney, Republican nominee for attorney general. “Slower crime labs have denied justice for victims and left criminals on our streets longer. The men and women we trust to keep us safe know it’s time for a change and are ready for an Attorney General that will fight crime and put public safety over politics.”
The endorsements come as law enforcement leaders across Wisconsin grow frustrated with Kaul’s record at the Department of Justice. Kaul promised to improve forensic testing, but the nonpartisan Legislative Audit Bureau found that after seven years, the state crime labs are slower, testing fewer items, and taking longer to turn around DNA, despite more staff and resources. In northern Wisconsin, the number of DOJ narcotics investigative agents serving the region out of the Eau Claire field office fell from four in 2013 to zero in 2025, a decline Red Cliff Band Chairwoman Nicole Boyd said has caused “many unnecessary deaths.”
As Fond du Lac County District Attorney and past president of the Wisconsin District Attorneys Association, Toney worked with a Republican legislature and a Democratic governor to secure pay raises for prosecutors and public defenders, additional crime lab positions, and more than 50 new prosecutor positions where the need was greatest. He was named “District Attorney of the Year” by his colleagues and was awarded an “Unsung Hero Award” from the Wisconsin Law Journal.
