MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity hosted its annual Framing the Future Gala on Thursday, October 15, welcoming more than 300 guests to the organization’s historic early 20th-century woodshop. The event raised a record $557,500 for Milwaukee Habitat’s longest-running fundraiser, helping open the door to affordable homeownership for more local families.

Presented by BMO Harris Bank, the Framing the Future Gala is Milwaukee Habitat’s largest annual fundraiser. The funds raised will help more local first time home buyers achieve their dream of homeownership.

Speaking to guests, gala emcee Portia Young reflected on the impact of homeownership in the community: “Together, we can build stronger neighborhoods. Together, we can help more children experience stability as they grow up. Together, we can help families invest in a home to call their own. Together, we can open the door to homeownership.”

A $100,000 matching challenge from Accunet Mortgage inspired an outpouring of generosity, with attendees quickly meeting and surpassing the match.

The record-setting evening demonstrated the power of a community coming together around a shared purpose. Through the generosity of attendees, sponsors and supporters, Milwaukee Habitat can continue helping more local families achieve the stability and opportunity that come with owning a home.
