Sarah Gail Luther: A Guide to the Field Guides
- Inova, 2155 N. Prospect Avenue
- Free
- 2011 Nohl Fellow Sarah Luther introduces us to her series of hand-drawn Milwaukee field guides, part of her project to expand her knowledge of her own city. Luther has spent the past year exploring hundreds of abandoned plots. She eventually selected five pieces of land for their particular feel, interest, or beauty. She then memorialized each plot in a field guide. The guides ponder the land’s history, surrounding neighborhood, points of interest or curiosity. Then she asks how each plot could be transformed into a public space.
