"I hail from a smaller town up north in the Fox Valley, which I truly love, but Milwaukee has my heart!"
Where do you work and what makes your role awesome?
I am the Marketing Director at Continuus Technologies. I handle all online and offline marketing efforts for Continuus, from content creation and designing to strategic planning and analytics. Working closely with our sales team and our team of data scientists, engineers, and developers, I quickly learned that everyone I work with is very smart and I learn something new from them in some capacity every single day. Our expertise lies in business intelligence and enterprise data management, which are very technical industries. After going to school for both IT and Marketing, it’s really challenging but exciting to construct and implement creative marketing strategies in a more technical field.
Continuus just moved into a beautiful new office space in the Third Ward, which has already given us some amazing opportunities to get involved in local events, but we also have the ability to work from anywhere. I love the flexibility and autonomy of it!
I also own a wedding calligraphy company on the side, which satisfies my need for literal hands-on creativity outside of what my full-time position entails.
How long have you lived in Milwaukee and what brought you here?
I have been in Milwaukee for a little over seven years. After graduating from Marquette in 2015, I couldn’t imagine myself living or starting my career anywhere else. I hail from a smaller town up north in the Fox Valley, which I truly love, but Milwaukee has my heart!
What do you love most about Milwaukee?
Music, music, music. The Rave, the Pabst Theater, the Back Room at Colectivo, and Summerfest are my most-frequented and my all-time favorites. The list of events and venues that host live music in Milwaukee is endless.
What local restaurant is at the top of your list?
I’m a sucker for anything with tacos and margaritas on the menu (bonus if it’s a spicy margarita). Blue Bat, Bel Air, and Vagabond are the first few that come to mind, but it’s impossible to pick just one!
What is your favorite Milwaukee tradition?
Irish Fest at the end of summer. My aunt is one of the Jameson Bar Captains, so my very Irish family and I always start out the weekend watching my youngest cousin dance around the Fest, and then I get to end it bartending with a bunch of my siblings and cousins at the Jameson Lounge on Saturday night.
What does your ideal Milwaukee weekend look like?
My ideal weekend includes sleeping in, followed by a good brunch. In the summer: volleyball at Bradford during the day and being on any patio when the sun sets. In the colder months: checking out new (and old!) breweries. Any season: any time I can end the night at a live music event is a win!
What neighborhood do you live in and why do you love it?
I live Downtown near the Pabst Theater. My favorite part about it is the easy access to every other neighborhood. I walk most places, so the fact that I can easily get to the Third Ward, the Lakefront, Brady Street, Third Street, or Cathedral Square in 15 minutes or less is the best. I’m also lucky to live on the river and love being able to walk out our front door onto the Riverwalk for a relaxing stroll to a patio or a nice run away from the busy sidewalks.
